Surgeons

Dr. Richard Harrison

Specialist Surgeon

A/Prof Richard Harrison is well known to the Wagga community, having been a practising specialist surgeon in the region for 18 years. He introduced weight loss surgery to the Riverina in 2003, making our practice the oldest in regional Australia. His interests include skin cancer, upper gastrointestinal and hernia surgery, and he is also chairman of the Amie St Clair Melanoma Trust. A/Prof Harrison is committed to surgical training and education, and sits on the Board of Examiners for the Royal Australian College of Surgeons.

Dr. Nicholas Williams

Specialist Surgeon

Dr Nicholas Williams is an obesity, endocrine and upper GI surgeon working in WaggaWagga, NSW.

He completed fellowships in hepatobiliary-pancreatic surgery at Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney and Endocrine/Obesity surgery in Mexico City.

He works in a high volume regional bariatric surgical practice, with a special interest in bypass and revisional surgery.

His other main interest is in the safe provision of upper gastrointestinal malignancy surgery in the regional setting , and he is the discipline leader for surgery at the rural campus of the University of Notre Dame.

Anaesthetists

 

Ian Graham

Dr Ian Graham is an anaesthetist who works regularly with Dr Harrison and specialises in weight loss surgery and day surgery. He has been working with the Riverina Bariatrics team for the last decade.

Igor Lemech

Dr Igor Lemech is an anaesthetistspecialising in Upper GI and bariatric surgery. He works at the WaggaWagga Rural Referral Hospital, Calvary Hospital and Riverina Day Surgery.

After completing his medical studies at University of New South Wales and Monash University, Igor worked extensively throughout metropolitan and regional Australia before establishing his practice in WaggaWagga in 2012.

Jocelyn Williams
Accredited Practicing Dietitian and Nutritionist

Jocelyn is an Accredited Practicing Dietitian and Nutritionist who has a Bachelor in Nutrition and Dietetics. Jocelyn has several years of experience in both clinical and private practice sectors of dietetic, including individual patient counselling and hospital consultation.

She provides her expertise in a variety of nutrition related areas with special interest in nutrition management for Bariatric surgeries. She has been consulting with the Riverina Bariatrics team for 8 years.

Jocelyn is an enthusiastic, passionate and dedicated health professional and is eager to provide personalised advice to specifically suit your lifestyle and dietary needs to achieve optimum results with bariatric surgery.

Jocelyn understands that we not only eat for enjoyment and often convenience but also for social, psychological and emotional reasons. She believes the key to been healthy and feeling good about ourselves is eating mindfully and having a positive relationship with food, as she strongly believes food should be enjoyed and a positive experience.

Jocelyn loves to cook herself and enjoys making food social (yes also including a glass of wine and some chocolate). She also loves getting outdoors to spend time with family and friends.

Jasmin Segar

Jasmin is an Accredited Practising Dietitian and Nutritionist who has a Bachelor in Nutrition and Dietetics. She has experience in a wide range of areas and has gained particular interest in the area of Bariatric surgeries.

Jasmin enjoys working with the team at Riverina Bariatrics to help her clients achieve their goals. Jasmin’s warm and friendly nature comes from her desire to help others by sharing her expertise. Jasmin is always excited to meet new clients and provide them with advice and support to help achieve the best results with Bariatric surgery.

Lisa Morrow

Lisa is an Accredited Practising Dietitian and Nutritionist with The Dietitians Association of Australia, working both with patient in hospital and in private practice. Lisa completed a Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics at Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga in 2010 and has been a member of the Riverina Bariatric Surgery Team since 2011.

Lisa has experience in a variety of nutrition related areas and has a keen interest in the nutrition management for bariatric surgeries. Lisa is dedicated to providing personalised advice that is not only evidence based but practical and easy to understand.

Lisa is an enthusiastic and professional Dietitian and enjoys working with her clients to support them in developing lifelong healthy habits to improve their overall health and achieve their goals.

 

Specialist Nurses

 

Tracey Willis
Registered Nurse

Tracey Willis is a Registered Nurse who has been nursing for over 20 years in the Riverina following training in Sydney. Tracey has 16 years experience in theatre and began working with Dr Harrison specialising in weight loss surgery in 2007.  Tracey is responsible for patient management from their initial consult and all post operative visits.

Tracey takes great pride in making patients feel comfortable and cared for in a clinical environment, ensuring the highest standards of nursing practice in a warm atmosphere.  Tracey is a member of Obesity Surgery Society of Australia and New Zealand (OSSANZ) and has many conferences and educational sessions both internationally and nationally.

 

Katrina Aicken
Registered Nurse

Qualified as a Registered Nurse in 1995 with 15 years experience in the Operating Suite and Recovery Katrina joined the Bariatric Team in 2010. Karina is an associate member of the Obesity Surgery Society of Australia and New Zealand (OSSANZ) and has attended many educational and training experiences in this field such as: OSSANZ conferences, Patient Management of Adjustable Gastric Banding System and An Introduction to Health Coaching for Health Professionals. Katrina also works in General Practice and has varied Nursing responsibilities. Katrina is a member of the Australian Practice Nurses Association and an Accredited Nurse Immuniser.
